Ranveer Singh resumes Pralay shoot on October 27 after baby break
Ranveer Singh is expected back on the Pralay sets on October 27 for a short Mumbai schedule after he and Deepika Padukone welcomed their second daughter.

Ranveer Singh is heading back to a post-apocalyptic Mumbai. The actor is expected to resume shooting for the zombie thriller Pralay on October 27 for a compact Mumbai schedule that lasts around two weeks. He had stepped away from the production just before he and Deepika Padukone welcomed their second daughter on September 19.
A shorter return, not a full sprint
A Variety India report cited by The Times of India says the revised plan is deliberately brief. Singh is expected to shoot for a couple of weeks in Mumbai, then step away again. His next return to the production is yet to be locked.
Earlier, he was reportedly expected to continue filming until Diwali before starting paternity leave. Now the production appears to have broken that long block into smaller, more flexible stints. A major schedule is still planned for 2027.
What we know about Pralay
Pralay went on floors in Mumbai in August. It marks Ranveer Singh’s first zombie thriller and is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Mumbai, using real locations around the city. The film is directed by Jai Mehta, who co-directed Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story.
- The look: Set glimpses in September showed Ranveer with longer hair and stubble.
- The debut: Kalyani Priyadarshan is making her Hindi film debut with the project.
- The backers: Birla Studios, True Story Films and Singh’s Maa Kasam Films are producing.
- The mystery: Supporting cast, full schedule and release date are still under wraps.
Why the shoot moved to Mumbai
An earlier schedule had reportedly been planned in Australia. When Singh and Padukone were preparing for the baby, the production shifted to Mumbai to keep filming closer to home. That location change is why this next stint can be a short stop rather than an overseas commitment.
For fans, that means more behind-the-scenes material from real Mumbai streets, with the city doubling as a dystopian backdrop.
Ranveer’s last release set a high bar
Singh was last seen in Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, which released on March 19, 2026. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film collected Rs. 1,813.39 crore gross worldwide, including Rs. 1,375.39 crore domestic and Rs. 438 crore overseas. It also featured Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal.
That makes Pralay an interesting next test: a genre switch from big-canvas action to a Mumbai-set survival thriller.
