Jailer 2 crosses Rs 541 crore worldwide in five days
Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 crosses Rs 541 crore worldwide in five days, becoming 2026's third-biggest Indian film behind Dhurandhar 2 and Drishyam 3.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is not just holding the screen; it is rewriting the 2026 box-office board. The Nelson Dilipkumar action drama has crossed Rs 541 crore in worldwide gross within five days of release, according to trade estimates cited by India Today.
A five-day sprint to the top three
The film took Rs 45.55 crore nett in India on its fifth day, lifting its domestic nett collection to Rs 287.80 crore, as per Sacnilk. That is exactly the kind of weekday hold that separates a front-loaded opener from a genuine crowd-pleaser.
The opening frame set the tone: Rs 59.70 crore nett on the first day. The weekend then stayed buoyant before the Monday collection slipped only modestly to Rs 43.35 crore. The Dussehra holiday gave the film extra momentum at a point when weekday drops usually kick in.
That is why hitting the Rs 500 crore mark this early matters. In the Indian market, a film that crosses that threshold inside a week usually has a long tail in front of it, not just a big opening.
Where Jailer 2 stands in the 2026 race
The sequel is now the third-highest-grossing Indian film of 2026. Only two titles sit above it:
- Dhurandhar 2 — Rs 1,813.39 crore worldwide
- Drishyam 3 — Rs 556.22 crore worldwide
Just below are Hanuman Ansh (Rs 450.68 crore) and Border 2 (Rs 450.19 crore). With Jailer 2 at Rs 541 crore, the gap to Drishyam 3 is a little over Rs 15 crore — close enough that a strong Wednesday could push the film into second place.
The Rajinikanth factor
Jailer 2, produced by Sun Pictures, brings back Rajinikanth as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The cast includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Vidya Balan and Mithun Chakraborty, with music by Anirudh Ravichander.
Director Nelson Dilipkumar kept his thank-you short and fan-friendly on X: “Theatres are going bonkers! Thalaivar magic hits different.” That reception is the story in one line — the film is working because audiences are treating it as an event, not just a sequel.
The comparison that fans will now be watching is with the first Jailer, which finished at Rs 604.74 crore. If the current pace holds, Jailer 2 could sail past its predecessor’s lifetime total within a few days, a rare feat for a Tamil-led franchise in the global marketplace.
For Hindi film fans tracking the year’s biggest Indian releases, the real takeaway is that the 2026 table is being topped by a mix of Hindi and southern titles. Jailer 2 is the strongest southern contender right now, and the Dussehra window is not over yet.
