Silaa locks February 5 release with Harshvardhan Rane

Harshvardhan Rane and Sadia Khateeb now have a big-screen date. Silaa, the love-and-revenge saga directed by Omung Kumar, will arrive in cinemas on February 5.

The film, presented by Z Studios, blends romance, mystery and high-octane action and moves between two striking backdrops: Kashmir and Vietnam. At its centre is Virat, played by Harshvardhan, a man whose search for someone he loves turns into a fight for survival.

What the film promises

The makers are positioning Silaa as a roller-coaster ride where romance and revenge sit side by side. Harshvardhan plays Virat, a character he says has more going on than meets the eye.

“Silaa has been one of the most challenging and exciting journeys for me as an actor,” he said. The actor added that the role demanded a lot physically and mentally, and that beneath the action, the story is really about how far a person is willing to go for someone who means everything.

Omung Kumar’s scale-with-heart pitch

Omung Kumar, known for Mary Kom and Sarbjit, wanted the film to feel big without losing the emotional thread. He said the idea was to take audiences through romance, action, mystery and adventure in an unexpected way.

Kumar added that the world was designed to be expansive and visually striking, while keeping the emotions central. He credited Harshvardhan with bringing intensity and physicality to Virat, and Sadia with adding strength and depth to the title character.

The team behind the frame

Presented by Z Studios, Silaa is a Blue Lotus Pictures and Stark Entertainment production. It is produced by Zee Studios, Omung Kumar, Himanshu Tiwari, Ajay Singh, Dhananjay Singh and Vanita Garud Kumar, and co-produced by Hemant Tiwari.

For Kumar, this is a shift from biographical storytelling to a more stylised, revenge-driven romance. The locations alone signal a different rhythm, giving the film a wider visual canvas across Kashmir and Vietnam.

What to keep on your radar

  • Release date: February 5
  • Lead pair: Harshvardhan Rane and Sadia Khateeb
  • Director: Omung Kumar, the filmmaker behind Mary Kom and Sarbjit
  • Mood: love, revenge, mystery and action across Kashmir and Vietnam

The release-date announcement gives fans something concrete to plan around, and it draws a line under the central promise: this February 5, love fights back.
