10 live cartridges recovered in Surat

Trigger warning: This report mentions violence and threats.

Mumbai Police have traced the weapon trail from the October 18 firing on Tiger Shroff’s car to a hideout in Surat, recovering two firearms and ten live cartridges in the Gujarat connection, a police official told PTI. The recoveries deepen a case that has already led to ten arrests across three states.

The Surat recovery, explained

The Mumbai Crime Branch carried out targeted raids in Surat on Friday after investigators followed the route the weapons allegedly took. The seized arms and ammunition have been sent for forensic examination and ballistic testing, and officials will compare those results with the empty shells collected from the shooting site.

That comparison is a key step: if the test-fired rounds match the scene evidence, it can tie the recovered weapons directly to the Juhu attack. Police are also working to trace other links in the supply network.

What happened on October 18

At least two men allegedly opened fire at Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area before fleeing on a motorcycle. The actor escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries. Police said five to six rounds were fired at the vehicle, and a motorcycle suspected to have been used in the attack was later found abandoned in Andheri.

A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act for attempted murder and other offences. Ten people have been apprehended so far, with arrests reported in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

The Bishnoi link

Police have named Anil Pandit as a wanted accused in the case. Pandit allegedly claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post, and officials describe him as an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which investigators believe operates from the United States. That alleged link matters to readers because the Bishnoi network has been named in a series of threats and attacks aimed at public figures.

A separate threat names Jalsa and a concert

Separately, Mumbai Police and other security agencies are examining a bomb threat email that reportedly names Amitabh Bachchan’s Jalsa bungalow in Juhu as a potential target. The email was sent to the office of Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde at the BMC headquarters, and police said Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi was among the recipients.

The message also listed these possible targets:

  • Amitabh Bachchan’s Jalsa residence
  • BMC offices and several municipal schools
  • Diljit Dosanjh’s concert venue, Mahalaxmi Racecourse, set for November 27
  • The mayor’s office, with a claimed 3:11 pm explosion

The sender allegedly called the threats retaliation for Operation Blue Star and the 1984 anti-Sikh violence, using the phrase “khoon da badla khoon” (blood for blood). The message threatened targeted attacks between October 31 and November 27. The available information does not establish that any threatened attack has taken place.
