Amitabh Bachchan Says Doctors Want Him to Rest Longer

Amitabh Bachchan says he needs yet more rest after doctors advised him to pause online updates, while Mumbai Police investigate a reported threat email.

Amitabh Bachchan: Doctors Order More Rest

Amitabh Bachchan has asked fans for a little more patience. On Friday, a day after stepping back from online communication on medical advice, the actor returned to his Tumblr blog with a short update: he still needs more rest.

What the update says

Bachchan had already told followers that doctors asked him to avoid writing and communicating online for a few days. His latest note underlines the same message. “Yet more rest needed .. adjusting .. thinking and wondering .. the human body and its uniqueness,” he wrote. The pause is deliberate, not a drift: he has used his blog and social channels for years to stay close to fans.

The Dussehra farewell, for now

Before the break, the actor shared Dussehra greetings on X and apologised for not being able to keep up with regular posts. He said he was under “very strict rest and recuperation” and asked followers to treat that message as his response until he can communicate more regularly.

Why this matters to film fans

Amitabh Bachchan started his personal blog in 2008 and has kept up a steady stream of reflections, experiences and professional news. For many Hindi film fans, those notes are a small daily ritual. A doctor-mandated break can feel like a bigger story than it is, but the responsible reading is simple: give the actor the rest he has been told to take.

  • Do not expect daily updates while he is under medical advice.
  • Do not connect the reported threat email to his health unless police say so.
  • Watch his verified blog and social handles for official news.

The reported threat email

Separately, Mumbai Police are investigating a reported bomb threat email after a school in the Bandra-Kurla Complex area received it on Friday. Reports have suggested the email may have mentioned Bachchan’s bungalow, but police have not confirmed whether either Jalsa or Prateeksha was named. No connection between the reported threat and the actor’s health update has been established.

What comes next

Bachchan’s most recent major release was Vettaiyan, the Tamil-Hindi action drama that hit theatres on October 10, 2024. He is next expected in Kalki 2. For now, recovery is the main event.
