Udta Teer hits Rs 5.65 crore, chases Rs 10 crore

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan’s spy-comedy Udta Teer is finding its feet after a mixed round of reviews. The film opened in theatres on October 23 and collected Rs 4.10 crore on its first day. By Saturday afternoon, the India net total had climbed to Rs 5.65 crore, with the final Saturday count still to be reported.

The Saturday pace so far

According to early figures cited by Sacnilk, the film was running in 2,921 shows on Day 2. The live Saturday figure stood at Rs 1.55 crore at the time of reporting, while India gross collections have reached Rs 6.66 crore.

  • Day 1: Rs 4.10 crore India net
  • Day 2: Rs 1.55 crore India net (live)
  • Total so far: Rs 5.65 crore India net

Box office watchers usually track net collections because they reflect what a film earns after entertainment tax, before distributor shares. Gross box office includes that tax, so the two figures differ. Both numbers here are still moving, since Saturday is far from over.

Why the hold matters

Udta Teer is billed as a lighter spin on the spy genre. The premise: in a world where nobody can be trusted, a secret agent accidentally throws everything into chaos. Directed by Akash A Kaushik, the cast includes Suhail Nayyar, Raghubir Yadav, Gulshan Grover, Prammod Sanghi and Salim Siddiqui, with music by Sachin-Jigar.

The audience and critic response has been mixed, so the weekend trajectory is the real test. A film that holds or grows on Saturday is usually finding family audiences, while a fall after an average opening can make Sunday a tougher ask.

Can it cross Rs 10 crore tonight?

If the current trend continues, the film could cross the Rs 10 crore net mark by the end of the day. That would be a confidence-boosting milestone for a mid-size release sharing screens with Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2. For Hindi film fans, a Saturday bump would mean the comedy is reaching beyond the opening-day crowd.

Final collections will be clearer once the night numbers are in, but the direction so far is steady rather than spectacular. For a film that promises chaos and laughs, the box office is doing just enough to keep the conversation alive.
