Mohra Returns To Cinemas After 32 Years In 4K

The 1994 action thriller Mohra returns to cinemas in a 4K remastered version on 6 November 2026, one day after Ramayana opens.

Mohra returns to cinemas in 4K after 32 years

Three decades after it first filled theatres, Mohra is coming back. Trimurti Films has confirmed that the 1994 action thriller will return in a 4K remastered version on 6 November 2026, 32 years after it became one of Hindi cinema’s most-loved action entertainers.

The date is a talking point on its own. Mohra lands just one day after Ramayana, the big-budget epic starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, which opens on 5 November. Instead of being buried by the new release, the re-release gives 90s nostalgia a clear weekend slot of its own.

What the story brings back

Suniel Shetty plays Vishal Agnihotri, a prisoner seeking justice for his wife’s murder. Raveena Tandon’s journalist Roma Singh helps him gain release, but Vishal soon works for Naseeruddin Shah’s powerful Jindal, who uses him to target criminals. As Akshay Kumar’s Inspector Amar Saxena investigates the killings, a larger conspiracy comes into focus.

Trimurti Films shared a teaser on its YouTube channel. Its description calls the film “a deadly game of power and betrayal” and promises the twists, thrills and songs that made Mohra unforgettable.

Why it mattered then

The original opened on 1 July 1994 and became the second-highest-grossing Indian film of that year, behind only Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!. Its soundtrack, composed by Viju Shah, reportedly sold more than eight million units.

The music is still the film’s loudest calling card:

  • “Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast” – Udit Narayan and Kavita Krishnamurthy
  • “Tip Tip Barsa Paani” – Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan
  • “Na Kajare Ki Dhar”, “Subah Se Lekar” and “Dil Har Koi” – with lyrics by Anand Bakshi, Indeevar and Sameer

The nostalgia test

The supporting cast is a 90s roll call: Paresh Rawal, Gulshan Grover, Raza Murad, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Poonam Jhawer and Kulbhushan Kharbanda among others. That depth is part of the re-release’s appeal for fans who remember the film as an event rather than a streaming title.

Going up against Ramayana is a genuine box-office test. One film offers spectacle at its newest and biggest; the other offers familiarity, hit music and a remastered look at a beloved action movie. For Hindi film fans, the first weekend of November is less about picking a side and more about enjoying two very different reasons to return to the theatre.
