Shah Rukh and Kareena reunite for King’s dance number
Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are reportedly shooting a large-scale dance number for King, with the Mumbai schedule starting on October 27.

Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan are reportedly back on a film set together, and this time it is for the kind of large-scale song sequence Hindi cinema loves. The two actors have begun shooting a dance number for Siddharth Anand’s upcoming action film King, with the Mumbai schedule starting on October 27 and choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant leading it.
A Chammak Challo-sized moment
The makers are looking backward for inspiration. According to a Variety India report, the team wants to recapture the energy of “Chammak Challo,” the 2011 Ra.One track that paired Shah Rukh and Kareena. The report said the song “promises to bring back the magic” of their earlier numbers, with international dancers expected to join the Mumbai shoot.
- The track is being mounted on grand sets as a high-energy party number.
- Vaibhavi Merchant is choreographing the sequence.
- Shah Rukh and Kareena last teamed for “Chammak Challo” in Ra.One.
King’s nostalgia play
The song news lands as the film’s promotional campaign leans into another callback. A new poster shows Shah Rukh in a rugged look, and his caption reached back to “Baadshah O Baadshah,” a song from his 1999 release Baadshah. He wrote on social media: “Today, I remembered once again… I am not a killer…I am a lover…. KING.”
That line gives the campaign a nostalgic touch while offering another look at his action-drama appearance. The film has already drawn attention for its cast and for pairing Shah Rukh with his daughter, Suhana Khan.
Why it matters for fans
Shah Rukh and Kareena have previously shared screen space in Asoka, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham… and Ra.One. That history makes the new song feel like an event rather than just another dance number, especially with King carrying big expectations.
There is also a practical reason the callback works. “Chammak Challo” is one of the most recognisable Hindi film tracks of its era, and pairing its energy with the current promotional cycle gives audiences an instant frame of reference. The challenge will be making the new number feel fresh rather than a replica.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, King stars Shah Rukh and Suhana, along with Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Arshad Warsi, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma, among others. The film is scheduled to open in cinemas on December 24, 2026.
For now, the song is one more reason King feels like an event release. The next markers are the first visuals from the set and the eventual music drop, both likely to arrive as the December 24 date gets closer.
