Internet spots Animal deja vu in Rashmika’s KWK retort

Fans compare a passage in Rashmika Mandanna's Koffee With Karan statement to Geetanjali's Animal dialogue. Here is what she and Vijay Deverakonda said.

Internet spots Animal deja vu in Rashmika's KWK retort

Rashmika Mandanna’s attempt to shut down the noise after Koffee With Karan Season 9 has become a story of its own. A small part of the actor’s eight-page statement defending her marriage to Vijay Deverakonda is being matched, line for line in spirit, with her own dialogue from Animal.

What Rashmika wrote

After the couple’s Koffee With Karan appearance became a talking point, Rashmika posted a note saying the reaction felt less like opinion and more like “an angry mob looking for someone to vent at.”

The section that travelled fastest was her argument that critics were not present for the hard moments. She listed injuries, monthly pain, and midnight anxiety before repeating, “you aren’t there. He is.”

The Animal echo

In Animal, her character Geetanjali confronts her parents for not showing up when she was pregnant. She describes Ranvijay Singh, played by Ranbir Kapoor, as “my father, mother, brother, boyfriend, husband, everything.”

Fans placed the film scene next to the real statement. Here is the parallel that caught fire:

  • Rashmika’s note: “When I snap a bone, you aren’t there. He is.”
  • Animal’s Geetanjali: “Then you should’ve shown up when I was pregnant.”
  • Geetanjali on Ranvijay: “my father, mother, brother, boyfriend, husband, everything.”

An X user put the comparison bluntly: “A version of these lines is literally there in Animal script; I am not lying.”

The interview that started it

On Karan Johar’s show, Rashmika said she raised the idea of marriage first at an airport. Vijay asked her to bring it up 100 times before he would think about it, she said, and she spent a year doing so. The couple eventually married in Udaipur in February 2026.

That conversation led to what Rashmika called an overwhelming wave of opinions. She explained that she wrote the note to protect “people who believe in love” and admitted the intensity had shaken her, adding, “WHAT THE FK IS GOING ON?”

Vijay’s blunt reply

Vijay Deverakonda posted his own response, calling Rashmika his best friend, wife, and woman. “For all those concerned, we are both gloriously happy,” he wrote, before ending with a sharper instruction that left no room for ambiguity.

The pair met on the sets of Geetha Govindam in 2017.

Why fans are watching

For Hindi film fans, this is a familiar loop: a candid sofa conversation gets clipped, a fan edit sets the tone, and within hours a real relationship is being evaluated like a script.

Rashmika’s note tried to break that loop by naming the stakes: protecting believers in love. Vijay’s reply opted for confrontation instead.

The Animal comparison works because it taps into a very filmi idea: the partner who stays when everyone else is busy judging. For a fan audience, it feels like art and life briefly used the same script.

The larger point from Rashmika and Vijay is simpler. A chat show appearance does not need to become a referendum on a real marriage.
