Summer Holidays Telugu Review: Nostalgia Earns 3/5, Thin Story
Srikar Nayan G's Telugu drama Summer Holidays earns 3/5 for 90s nostalgia and lead chemistry, but a familiar plot and convenient climax hold it back.

The Telugu family drama Summer Holidays released on 6 November 2026, and it wants to take you back to a slower time. 123telugu has rated it a decent but not remarkable 3/5.
A summer in Thotavaripalem
Directed by Srikar Nayan G and produced by Dheeraj Mogilineni and Giri Babu Vallabhaneni, the film is set in 2001. Ravuri Venkatesh, or RV, is under constant pressure from his father Harsha Vardhan to focus on studies. When his mother Janaki, played by Vasuki, takes him to his grandmother’s village Thotavaripalem for the holidays, he meets Kasi Venkateswarlu, or KV. KV has little interest in academics and wants to make money so he can live on his own terms. The two boys become fast friends, and the rest of the film follows what that friendship changes for both of them.
Where Summer Holidays works
The review says the biggest draw is the texture of 1990s childhood. Mango orchards, river swims and street cricket are captured with a light touch. Rohan Roy, as KV, carries the lower-middle-class struggle with maturity and natural humour, while Arun Dev’s quiet RV gives the friendship a believable contrast. Jayasudha and Rajiv Kanakala make their limited time count, and Sinjith Yerramilli’s background score adds warmth.
Where it loses its grip
The problem is not the mood but the story. The plot follows a familiar path, and some emotional turns feel convenient rather than earned. In one example, a father who has been strict for the entire film softens after a single monologue in the climax. The women also get less to do: Jayasudha’s character is underdeveloped, Khushi Soni has limited scope, and Vasuki’s Janaki needed a stronger emotional arc.
- Strong: 90s nostalgia, lead performances, music and village visuals
- Weak: familiar story, convenient climax and underdeveloped supporting roles
Should you watch it?
If you love films that bottle the feel of childhood summers, this is a gentle family pick. Just go in knowing that the warmth of the setting does most of the work while the writing plays safe. It will land best for viewers who value recollection over surprise.
