Salman Khan Praises Chitrangada’s Confidence at Maatrubhumi Launch
Salman Khan calls his first on-screen pairing with Chitrangada Singh punchy and free of insecurity at the Maatrubhumi trailer launch.

Salman Khan is in the final stretch of promoting Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, and the trailer launch gave him a chance to talk about a co-star he has never worked with before: Chitrangada Singh.
The moment arrived when a journalist grouped Chitrangada with Salman’s previous leading ladies and also brought up an injury from an on-set kick. Salman did not take the comparison bait. Instead, he kept the focus on what he values in a co-star.
“There is a punch in chemistry,” Salman said. When asked to name Chitrangada’s best quality, he answered simply, “No insecurity at all.”
It is classic Salman: brief, playful and just revealing enough to keep the pairing in the conversation ahead of the film’s December release. The exchange matters because it sets the tone for how the team wants the film to be seen: less about star gossip and more about trust on a serious project.
A first-time pairing built on a real story
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace marks the first on-screen collaboration between Salman Khan and Chitrangada Singh. The film is inspired by the 2020 Galwan Valley clashes between Indian and Chinese troops, and it draws on accounts from Shiv Aroor’s book, India’s Most Fearless.
Salman plays Indian Army Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu, who commanded the 16 Bihar Regiment during the Galwan Valley clash. Colonel Santosh Babu was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, which gives the film the weight of a tribute as much as a war drama.
Who else is in it
- Mukesh Rishi, Ankur Bhatia, Zeyn Shaw and Abhilash Chaudhary are part of the supporting cast.
- The project was initially announced as Battle of Galwan before it was renamed.
- The release date is set for December 4 in theatres.
Why the release moved
Salman explained that the team needed additional time to perfect the VFX and meet its visual standards. The production schedule also had to be adjusted after Chitrangada Singh suffered an injury. As a result, the film lands in a crowded holiday window with a clear, final date.
What this means for fans
This is not a standard Salman potboiler. The film centres on a real officer and a real conflict, which gives it a different emotional register. For Chitrangada Singh, the project is a high-profile Bollywood pairing that could introduce her to a wider Hindi-film audience.
The trailer launch has already put the duo’s dynamic in focus. The question now is whether that “punch in chemistry” turns into big-screen pull when Maatrubhumi opens on December 4.
