Nayyi Navelli Day 9: Worldwide Gross Hits Rs 31.15 Cr

Yami Gautam's comedy-horror Nayyi Navelli bounces back on second Saturday with Rs 95 lakh India net, taking worldwide gross to Rs 31.15 cr.

Nayyi Navelli Day 9: Worldwide Gross Hits Rs 31.15 Cr

Nayyi Navelli showed signs of a second-weekend recovery on Saturday, October 24, giving Yami Gautam’s comedy-horror a sturdier footing after a soft Friday. The film added Rs 95 lakh in India net collections across 1,292 shows, a jump of 58.3% over the previous day’s Rs 60 lakh.

The Saturday push lifts the film’s India net total to Rs 23.70 crore. India gross stands at Rs 28.15 crore, while a Rs 15-lakh overseas day takes the international gross total to Rs 3 crore. That puts the worldwide gross at Rs 31.15 crore after nine days.

A second Saturday that mattered

For a mid-level Hindi release, the second Saturday often works as a word-of-mouth check. A film can look shaky after a Friday fall, but a Saturday bounce suggests viewers are recommending it or waiting for the weekend.

The film opened at Rs 3.25 crore on October 16, rose to Rs 4.40 crore on Sunday, and then held on Tuesday with Rs 4.35 crore before collections cooled. After a first-week domestic net of Rs 22.15 crore, Friday’s Rs 60 lakh raised doubts; Saturday’s Rs 95 lakh response suggests the weekend crowd came back.

  • Day 8 (Friday): Rs 60 lakh India net from 1,258 shows, 11% occupancy
  • Day 9 (Saturday): Rs 95 lakh India net from 1,292 shows, 16% occupancy
  • Total India net: Rs 23.70 crore
  • Worldwide gross: Rs 31.15 crore

How the day played out

Occupancy data for Hindi 2D screenings put Day 9’s average at 24.88%. The shape of the day mattered: morning shows logged 10.92%, afternoon 24.92%, evening 29.15%, and night shows led at 29.77%. For a family comedy-horror, strong late shows are a useful sign because they capture group outings after work and dinner.

About 42,611 tickets were estimated sold on Saturday, bringing cumulative footfalls to 1,169,302 since the release. With over 1,250 shows still running on Day 9, exhibitors were giving the film room to recover.

What the numbers mean

Box office totals are often reported in layers. India net strips out entertainment tax, India gross includes it, and worldwide gross adds overseas receipts. Here, the Rs 23.70 crore India net becomes Rs 28.15 crore India gross, with Rs 3 crore from international markets pushing the worldwide figure to Rs 31.15 crore.

The challenge now is hold. A 16% occupancy on Saturday is an improvement, not a breakout, and Sunday’s hold will show whether the recovery can stretch into a longer run.

About the film

Nayyi Navelli follows Mohini, played by Yami Gautam, as she enters a chaotic Meerut joint family after her wedding. Addinath M. Kothare and Anurag Thakur, who plays Bunttu, round out the cast, with Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma credited as writers.
