Prahaar worldwide box office hits Rs 19.51 cr after Day 5 bounce

Rajkummar Rao's Prahaar added Rs 3.30 cr net on Tuesday, up 65% from Monday, taking worldwide gross to Rs 19.51 cr.

Prahaar worldwide box office reaches Rs 19.51 crore

Rajkummar Rao’s Prahaar – The Ujjwal Nikam Story found new energy on Tuesday, October 20, adding Rs 3.30 crore net in India. That is a 65% improvement over the previous day’s Rs 2 crore, according to trade figures shared by Sacnilk.

The mid-week push lifted the film’s five-day India net collection to Rs 14.45 crore. Its worldwide gross now stands at Rs 19.51 crore, with India gross at Rs 17.21 crore and overseas gross at Rs 2.30 crore.

Day-wise box office pattern

The opening five days in India have played out in a clear rhythm: a weekend climb, a Monday slide, and then a Tuesday recovery.

  • Friday, October 16: Rs 2.35 crore net
  • Saturday, October 17: Rs 3.15 crore net
  • Sunday, October 18: Rs 3.65 crore net
  • Monday, October 19: Rs 2 crore net
  • Tuesday, October 20: Rs 3.30 crore net

Tuesday’s show count was 3,294, only a shade above Monday’s 3,281 shows, but the earnings jump was significant. That points to fuller theatres rather than a wider release doing the work. The Hindi 2D version recorded 32.74% occupancy overall on Tuesday, rising from 11.15% in the morning to a high of 41.31% in the evening.

Why this matters for a courtroom drama

A dialogue-driven legal drama is not the usual weekend spectacle, so weekday behaviour matters more for its box office story. Prahaar drew 147,557 footfalls on Tuesday, taking its cumulative audience count to 640,409 over five days. That suggests the film is still finding viewers beyond the opening weekend rush.

The overseas contribution is modest. Day 5 brought in Rs 15 lakh from international markets, pushing the total overseas gross to Rs 2.30 crore. In trade language, net collection refers to the money a film earns in India after taxes, while gross is the amount before those adjustments; worldwide gross combines India and overseas gross.

What comes next

Directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware, the film follows public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam through legal battles tied to the 1993 Bombay blasts and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Rajkummar Rao is the main draw, and the film’s challenge now is to convert the Tuesday uptick into a stable second-weekend performance. If evening and night shows continue to fill, the weekdays can cushion the landing; if the recovery was only a one-day correction, the total will stay modest.

All box office numbers in this report are approximate and may be revised when official studio data is finalised.
