Ramayana Advance Booking Nears Rs 25 Crore Before Nov 5 Release

Ranbir Kapoor and Yash's Ramayana has sold 2.16 lakh advance tickets across 161 cities, with gross bookings near Rs 25 crore before November 5.

Ramayana advance booking closes in on Rs 25 crore before release

Nitesh Tiwari’s “Ramayana: Rise of a Legend” is turning advance booking into an event before the film even hits screens. The Ranbir Kapoor and Yash epic had sold approximately 2.16 lakh tickets across 161 cities by October 26, according to early box-office tracking shared by Films Discourse. Opening-weekend advance gross is estimated at Rs 12.50 crore; excluding blocked seats, the net estimate drops to Rs 10.57 crore, but when blocked seats are included, the reported gross climbs to Rs 23.28 crore.

That puts the film within touching distance of the Rs 25 crore advance mark ahead of its worldwide theatrical release on Thursday, November 5. For a big mythological tentpole, the early geography and format mix suggest the film is behaving like an event, not a routine release.

Maharashtra and Mumbai lead the early rush

Maharashtra is the top state so far, with 46,937 tickets sold and an estimated Rs 3.20 crore collected. Mumbai is the strongest city, selling 27,959 tickets for an estimated Rs 2.07 crore. That metro-plus-state lead matters because Hindi cinema’s biggest opening weekends are often built in the Mumbai-Maharashtra corridor.

Hindi and 3D are doing the heavy lifting

The Hindi version accounts for the bulk of early demand: 1,84,010 tickets and an estimated Rs 10.98 crore. The 3D format is also a major contributor, though the two sets of format-wise numbers reported (1,28,575 tickets and Rs 6.51 crore against 1,41,183 tickets and Rs 7.10 crore) suggest the precise 3D split still needs verification.

  • Approximately 2.16 lakh tickets sold across 161 cities
  • Rs 12.50 crore opening-weekend advance gross; Rs 23.28 crore reported gross with blocked seats
  • Maharashtra leads states with 46,937 tickets; Mumbai leads cities with 27,959 tickets
  • Hindi version accounts for 1,84,010 tickets and Rs 10.98 crore

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Sunny Deol as Hanuman and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman.

What it means for film fans

Advance booking has become Indian cinema’s early barometer: it tells exhibitors how many shows to add and gives fans a sense of whether a film will open big. For a Ramayana adaptation, the stakes are even higher because the story is familiar to every generation. The early response suggests the film is playing as an event.

If you are planning to watch it on opening weekend, lock in tickets early, especially for Hindi 3D shows in Mumbai and Maharashtra, where demand is strongest right now.
