Ramayana Jatayu poster: Anupam Kher lends voice; film out Nov 5

Ramayana's new Jatayu poster, voiced by Anupam Kher, leans into courage and duty. Part one opens worldwide on November 5, 2026.

Ramayana’s Jatayu poster adds Anupam Kher’s voice for Nov 5 release

Jatayu has entered the picture. Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part Ramayana has been building its ensemble one reveal at a time, and the latest character poster puts the spotlight on the eagle who refuses to stay silent. The film’s team has released a first look at Jatayu, with veteran actor Anupam Kher confirmed as the voice of the brave bird.

What the poster shows

The new art gives two views of Jatayu: one closes in on his sharp, determined eyes, while the other opens his wings wide. The reveal carries the title The Wings of Dharma, positioning the character around courage and righteousness rather than spectacle alone.

It is a smart framing for one of the epic’s shortest but most emotionally charged arcs. Jatayu’s importance does not rest on how long he is on screen; it rests on the decision he makes when evil is right in front of him.

Why a familiar voice changes the texture

A voice reveal does something a simple character poster cannot: it gives audiences a way to feel the character before a single dialogue scene is shown. Anupam Kher’s casting suggests Jatayu will be played with gravitas and an emotional register that matches the sacrifice the role demands.

That matters because Jatayu’s sequence is not a crowd-pleasing battle set piece. It is a short, wrenching stand where defeat is almost certain. If the voice work sells the bird’s courage, the film earns an emotional beat that big-budget spectacle can sometimes flatten.

Why Jatayu’s fight still matters

In the Ramayana, Jatayu tries to rescue Sita as Ravana abducts her. He knows Ravana is the more powerful opponent, but he still chooses to confront him. The attempt ends in defeat, yet it is the choice to act that turns the bird into a lasting symbol of loyalty and sacrifice.

For a new generation watching this adaptation, that beat has to land. It is the moment the story shifts from a kidnapping to a larger test of duty, and it gives Rama’s search its emotional stakes. Anupam Kher’s voice will carry that weight.

A cast built across industries

The film brings together names from different film industries. The announced cast so far includes:

  • Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama
  • Sai Pallavi as Sita
  • Yash as Ravana
  • Sunny Deol as Hanuman
  • Ravi Dubey as Lakshman
  • Anupam Kher as the voice of Jatayu

Produced by Namit Malhotra, the project is planned as a two-part adaptation. Part one is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, and the second part is planned for Diwali 2027.

What to watch for next

With Jatayu now revealed, the ensemble is coming into focus. The next test is how the adaptation balances its visual scale with the quieter, moral beats that made the story endure. Fans will be watching whether the big-budget treatment keeps Jatayu’s sacrifice intimate rather than drowning it in spectacle.
