Ramayana trailer turns Jatayu clash into an epic event

The new Ramayana: Rise of the Legend trailer has X fans calling the Jatayu-Ravana clash a theatre moment; here is what the promo reveals.

Jatayu vs Ravana and a two-second Shiva shot set X ablaze

For a film that has been discussed for years, Ramayana: Rise of the Legend just gave fans something far more tangible than casting chatter. The new trailer, released on October 15, 2026, turned a familiar sacred story into the day’s biggest Bollywood conversation.

What the trailer gets people talking about

Much of the early excitement on X centred on the mid-air clash between Jatayu and Ravana. Anupam Kher voices Jatayu, and the sequence is being described as the kind of theatre moment that rewards a big-screen ticket. Alongside it, a two-second image of Yash’s Ravana praying before a Shiva idol inside a ring of fire earned rapid ‘frame of the century’ praise.

The confrontation between Ranbir Kapoor’s Lord Rama and Lord Parshuram also stood out. One fan predicted it would be ‘the sequence of the century’, while another wrote that the Jatayu footage gave them ‘an adrenaline pump every single time’.

Why this hype feels different

The reaction is not simply about the stars. Fans are responding to the scale of the presentation: the visual effects, the background score and the promise of an epic, not a costume drama. One viewer even urged fans of Zack Snyder-style spectacle to pay attention, calling the film ‘one of India’s most ambitious and expensive cinematic epics’.

The team behind the film supports that framing. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi is Goddess Sita, Ravie Dubey is Laxman, Yash is Ravana and Sunny Deol is Lord Hanuman. Namit Malhotra produces under DNEG and Prime Focus Studios, with Yash also serving as co-producer.

Why it matters for fans

For Hindi film audiences, the Ramayana carries cultural weight that goes beyond a normal franchise. The challenge for Nitesh Tiwari is not just visual; it is to turn a beloved story into spectacle while keeping its devotional core intact. The early response suggests the promo has convinced fans that the two-part series is aiming for that balance.

The release plan in brief

  • India release: January 5
  • International markets: November 6
  • Sequel: Diwali 2027

That calendar sets up Ramayana: Rise of the Legend as a long-lead event. If the early heat holds, the first instalment could become the box-office occasion fans are already predicting.
