Ramayana Event: Ranbir Kapoor Apologises for Dussehra Slip

At the Chennai Ramayana event, Ranbir Kapoor addressed his Dussehra 'jeet' slip, while Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh celebrated A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer's music.

Ranbir Kapoor apologises for 'jeet' slip

Ramayana is not short on scale, and neither was its Chennai showcase on October 21. The cast assembled to talk about the epic, but the first order of business belonged to Ranbir Kapoor — an apology.

Ranbir Kapoor clears the air

During an earlier Dussehra appearance, Kapoor had quoted a line about truth and goodness. The intended ending was ‘ant’ — the end of falsehood. Instead, he said ‘jeet,’ victory, which flipped the line to suggest truth and goodness would end. At the Ramayana event he addressed it directly, asking to make amends for the slip of the tongue.

It was a small word with a big weight. For a film that is mounting one of India’s most beloved epics, correcting that meaning matters — especially among audiences who know the text well.

The cast turns to the film’s sound

Sai Pallavi spoke about A.R. Rahman’s music not as background score but as a time machine. She said she often reaches for his tunes to travel back to memories she associates with them subconsciously.

Rakul Preet Singh was equally effusive about Kapoor’s portrayal. She said:

Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram is magical… After this film, every time you think of Lord Ram, I really feel you will see Ranbir.

She also underlined how much music powers cinema. Ramayana’s announcement of Oscar winners A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer has made its soundtrack one of the film’s loudest talking points.

Key moments from the Chennai event

  • Ranbir Kapoor apologised for saying ‘jeet’ instead of ‘ant’ during a Dussehra statement.
  • Sai Pallavi said A.R. Rahman’s music helps her revisit memories.
  • Rakul Preet Singh called Ranbir’s Lord Ram ‘magical’ and praised the film’s music bench.
  • Ravie Dubey said he is working with some of the greatest technical talents, naming Rahman and Hans Zimmer among them.

Why this matters for fans

Ramayana is not just another release; it is a faith-adjacent epic, and every word about it carries weight. The event showed the team trying to handle that weight carefully: the apology, the reverence for the music, the praise for the cast.

The film releases in cinemas on November 5, 2026, and has already been declared tax-free in West Bengal. With the team now on the promotional trail, expect the noise around Ramayana to only get louder.
