Ranbir Kapoor's Ramayana Crosses Rs 20 Crore in Advance Booking

Advance booking for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana has crossed ₹20 crore before release, Filmfare reported. It is an early signal that the epic adaptation is already converting anticipation into committed ticket sales.

Ranbir Kapoor, who plays Lord Rama, discussed the role during a Diwali special episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, hosted by Amitabh Bachchan and featuring co-stars Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey.

From hesitation to reverence

Kapoor admitted that the role initially felt deeply intimidating. Lord Rama carries collective faith and cultural expectation, and the actor said he questioned whether he was truly ready.

As the shoot progressed, that nervousness became something else. He told Bachchan that no one can truly become like Prabhu Shri Ram, but learning from his ideals is a big thing for all of us.

A role and a daughter arrive together

The production coincided with a personal milestone: Kapoor and Alia Bhatt welcomed daughter Raha. The actor said the timing made the role feel like more than a professional assignment.

“I believe that this film is a God’s gift that I got an opportunity to become a better human,” Kapoor said.

He added that becoming a father during the shoot reshaped his outlook. Exploring the virtues of Maryada Purushottam became a daily guide to patience, grace and integrity rather than an intellectual acting exercise.

  • Advance booking has crossed ₹20 crore before release.
  • Kapoor called the role a “God’s gift” during fatherhood.
  • The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey.

Why the moment landed now

Kapoor’s screen career has often been defined by restless, coming-of-age roles. Playing a figure built on restraint and moral clarity is a notable turn, and it arrives as he describes feeling more grounded at home.

The Diwali setting also gave the conversation a wider emotional stage. Faith, family and a marquee epic aligned in one interview, which likely helps the film’s word-of-mouth before release.

What the advance number signals

Advance booking is one of the few publicly visible demand signals before reviews and word-of-mouth kick in. A strong figure at this stage can give exhibitors confidence to add shows and allocate prime-time slots.

The number also suggests that the film’s promotional cycle has worked. The Diwali KBC appearance placed Ranbir Kapoor in a reflective, family-centred light, which may widen the audience beyond the usual epic-film crowd.

Early demand is already visible

The ₹20 crore advance booking figure is an early indicator, not a full verdict. Advance audiences tend to be the most eager viewers, so crossing that mark shows the film has moved beyond curiosity.

For fans, it suggests opening-weekend screens may fill quickly. The promotional conversation has shifted from spectacle alone to something more personal: a star talking honestly about fatherhood and faith.

For viewers, the Diwali special is a chance to see the actor reflect before the epic hits theatres; for the film, it is one more signal that interest is running well ahead of release day.
