Jailer 2 Crosses Rs 10 Crore in Tamil Nadu Advance Bookings
Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 crosses Rs 10 crore in Tamil Nadu Day 1 advance bookings, led by Chennai, with all-India advance past Rs 21 crore and two days to release.

Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 has raced past Rs 10 crore gross in Tamil Nadu opening-day advance bookings, with nearly two days still to go before release. Trade tracker Sacnilk reports the figure includes block seats and comes from more than 3,300 shows across the state, with over 500 shows already showing housefull boards.
Chennai is doing the heavy lifting
Chennai remains the engine of the advance. The city has contributed over Rs 4.80 crore gross from more than 1,000 shows, close to half of the state-wide tally. Coimbatore has crossed Rs 1 crore, while Trichy and Madurai are adding to the momentum.
- Tamil Nadu: over Rs 10 crore gross, including block seats
- Chennai: over Rs 4.80 crore from 1,000+ shows
- Kerala: over Rs 4.50 crore gross
- Karnataka: over Rs 4 crore gross
- All India: over Rs 21 crore gross and 10 lakh+ tickets
Why the early money matters
Advance bookings do not guarantee a hit, but they are one of the clearest early signals of fan urgency. For a superstar-led sequel, crossing Rs 10 crore in a single state before the final booking push suggests the audience is treating this as an event rather than a regular Friday release. The test will be whether the film can hold beyond its opening day.
Same world, bigger ensemble
Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Sun Pictures, Jailer 2 brings Rajinikanth back as retired jailer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. Returning faces include Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa, Mohanlal and Shiva Rajkumar, with new additions Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, SJ Suryah and Suraj Venjaramoodu. Anirudh Ravichander returns as composer.
The original Jailer sets the benchmark
The comparison fans will make is with the first film. Jailer (2023) collected Rs 23.40 crore gross in Tamil Nadu on its opening day. That is a full first-day figure, not an advance number, so it is not a like-for-like match with the current Rs 10 crore pre-sales. Still, it gives the sequel a clear target once spot bookings and first shows arrive.
What the next two days will decide
Rajinikanth releases often gather pace in the final stretch, so the remaining booking window could change the picture. With the film set for a worldwide release on October 15 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, the opening number will also depend on spot sales and, after that, audience word of mouth.
