Devi Sri Prasad Sings Ravana Thandavam Song From Ramayana

Devi Sri Prasad has lent his voice to the Telugu version of Ravana Thandavam from Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, released on Dasara.

Devi Sri Prasad Sings Ravana Thandavam Song From Ramayana

Devi Sri Prasad has added his voice to the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Ramayana. The singer-composer features on the Telugu version of Ravana Thandavam, a track released on Dasara and built around Ravana’s Shiva Tandav. The track plays like a visual spectacle: Lanka at full scale, Ravana emerging as the King of the Asuras, and Yash’s screen presence doing much of the storytelling.

Dasara drop for a pan-Indian epic

The timing matters. Releasing a devotional song on Dasara gives the campaign a ready-made festive hook, especially for a film drawn from the Ramayana. The Telugu version also makes it clear that Ramayana is being pitched as a pan-Indian event, not a single-language release. If you have followed the project’s scale, a separate Telugu track sung by someone of DSP’s popularity is a strong signal of how the southern leg is being courted.

In a post on social media, DSP thanked AR Rahman for the music and said he felt “Honoured to be a part” of the project, adding that he hoped fans would love the track.

  • Track: Ravana Thandavam, Telugu version
  • Singer: Devi Sri Prasad
  • Composer: AR Rahman
  • Film: Ramayana, directed by Nitesh Tiwari
  • On screen: Yash as Ravana
  • Release: Dasara, October 20, 2026

The mythology behind the Tandav

For many viewers, Ravana Thandavam is more than a set piece. In the stories, Ravana was an ardent devotee of Shiva. His pride led him to try lifting Mount Kailash. Shiva pressed the mountain down with his toe, trapping Ravana’s fingers, and the demon king sang hymns in praise of the deity. Those verses are believed to have become the Shiva Tandava Stotram. Put that story inside a Rahman score and it gives the song a devotional charge that festive audiences recognise instantly.

Why Hindi fans already know DSP

DSP is not a new name for Hindi film listeners. He reached pan-Indian audiences through the Pushpa franchise and has contributed to Hindi favourites such as Dhinka Chika from Ready, Seeti Maar from Radhe, and Daddy Mummy from Bhaag Johnny. He also previously composed Asura Asura Ravasura for the Jr NTR-starrer Jai Lava Kusa, a track that similarly dealt with Ravana’s power and knowledge. That history makes him a comfortable bridge between the southern music market and Hindi film fans watching Ramayana build momentum.

For Total Filmi readers, this is a good moment to cue up the official Telugu version and hear how DSP’s vocal textures sit inside Rahman’s orchestration. It is the kind of release that tells you the Ramayana campaign is moving beyond teaser talk and into full musical-event mode.
