Nayanthara gets 60-foot Mookuthi Amman 2 cut-out ahead of release
A 60-foot cut-out of Nayanthara as Amman has gone up near Chennai, with Regina Cassandra calling it a first for a Tamil actress before Mookuthi Amman 2.

Nayanthara’s return as the goddess Amman just got a very public, very large welcome. Days before Mookuthi Amman 2 opens in theatres, fans have installed a 60-foot cut-out of the actor at Vels Theatre in Chembarambakkam, near Chennai.
The display, showing Nayanthara in her divine look from the film, has become a talking point — including for her co-star Regina Cassandra.
A 60-foot first for a Tamil actress
Regina Cassandra reacted to the installation with a note that framed the moment as more than just promotional noise. She wrote that she had been told Nayanthara is “the first ever actress to have a cut out of this magnitude prior to a film release in Tamilnadu” and called it “a 60 feet feat indeed.”
In the same note, she added that whether you call it willpower or manifestation, the achievement is admirable and that she is in awe. That reaction matters because giant pre-release cut-outs have traditionally been a marker of mass-hero fandom in Tamil cinema, usually reserved for male stars. Nayanthara getting one of this scale ahead of a devotional comedy is a sign of how her Amman role carries its own fan pull.
What to know about Mookuthi Amman 2
The sequel is directed by Sundar C, with Khushbu Sundar and Vignesh Shivan associated with the production. HipHop Tamizha Aadhi has composed the music.
- Release date: November 6 in theatres
- Director: Sundar C
- Cast: Nayanthara, Regina Cassandra, Urvashi, Abhinaya, Yogi Babu, Myna Nandhini, Duniya Vijay and Singampuli
- Music: HipHop Tamizha Aadhi
For fans of female-led Indian cinema, the visual is meaningful. It took a sequel with Nayanthara at the centre to produce a fan tribute that rivals the giant cut-outs usually built for male mass heroes. Regina Cassandra’s reaction also underlines that the milestone is being noticed inside the industry, not just by the public.
Teaser talk and the real test
Not all the pre-release chatter has been celebratory. The film’s teaser has faced criticism on social media, with some viewers questioning the visual effects and saying certain computer-generated scenes look artificial. Others have compared the horror-comedy tone to Sundar C’s Aranmanai franchise and asked whether this sequel will feel different.
Still, the 60-foot cut-out has kept attention on Nayanthara’s return. The film’s mix of fantasy, comedy and devotional elements is expected to draw audiences, but the box-office response on November 6 will be the clearer verdict on whether that fan energy translates into ticket sales.
