Aamir Khan in early talks with Stephen Chow for action film
Aamir Khan Productions is in early talks with Stephen Chow for an action-heavy film blending martial arts and physical comedy, but no deal is confirmed yet.

Aamir Khan is exploring a larger canvas for his next action outing. According to a report in Mid-Day, Aamir Khan Productions has held early conversations with Hong Kong filmmaker-actor Stephen Chow about an action-heavy film that would blend martial arts with physical comedy and be built to compete internationally.
The talks are still preliminary. There is no signed film, no announced title and no committed start date. But the possibility alone points to a different Aamir: one who wants a global action play, not just a Bollywood spectacle.
Why Stephen Chow?
Chow is best known for Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle, films that pair stylised combat with slapstick. A source cited by Mid-Day said Aamir is keen to explore action on a bigger stage.
His contemporaries Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have already headlined big-ticket action spectacles. [While Aamir has done action], he is keen to explore the genre with a film that can compete on an international scale.
The report adds that Chow’s distinctive approach to action and physical comedy is the draw. A collaboration would pair Aamir’s production ambition with Chow’s comic action language.
The decision is not close
Aamir is known for taking time before committing. The report says he is weighing several scripts, including an action film from director Atlee, and has reportedly asked for time until March 2027 before deciding. Until then, his calendar is full.
- Lalkaara: Ashutosh Gowariker’s retelling of the 1952 India-Pakistan Test series, reportedly occupying much of Aamir’s schedule through March 2027.
- 3 Idiots sequel: In development with Rajkumar Hirani; production will wait on the screenplay.
- Stephen Chow action-comedy: Early conversations only, no confirmation.
- Atlee action film: Also under consideration, with a decision expected later.
What Chow brings to the table
Chow broke out with Hong Kong hits like All for the Winner, Fight Back to School and Royal Tramp, then crossed over globally with Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle. His filmmaking is defined by inventive action, exaggerated physical performances and precise comic timing.
For Hindi film fans, that matters. Bollywood has cycled through high-octane action, but Chow’s comic-action grammar is rare in this market. If the project moves ahead, it could give Aamir an action vehicle that does not just rely on scale but on physical gags.
For now, treat it as a conversation, not a confirmation. The signal to watch is simple: a formal announcement from Aamir Khan Productions. Until then, the action is in the waiting.
