Four-Part Arjun Naga Adds Randeep Hooda, Celina Jaitly

Anil Sharma's upcoming period drama Arjun Naga adds Randeep Hooda and Celina Jaitly to its ensemble for a four-part Dubai oil-rush saga.

Anil Sharma's Arjun Naga adds Hooda and Jaitly to a four-part cast

Anil Sharma is scaling up after Gadar 2 with a four-part period drama, and the ensemble is getting more interesting by the week. Randeep Hooda and Celina Jaitly have reportedly joined Arjun Naga, the director’s upcoming saga set against Dubai’s 1960s oil boom. Utkarsh Sharma leads the project and Arjun Rampal is set to play the antagonist. The first part is being shot at Mumbai’s Film City, with the production eyeing a wrap by March 2027.

A real oil rush, a fictional rise

The story is expected to open in the early 1960s, when Dubai was still a modest trading and fishing centre. It will trace the events leading up to the discovery of oil in the Fateh field in 1966, including the 1963 exploration concession granted to Continental Oil Company. Within that historical frame, Utkarsh’s character rises from extreme poverty to become one of the wealthiest men in Dubai. The personal journeys, however, are dramatised rather than documentary.

Why four instalments?

Speaking to Mid-Day, Anil Sharma framed the format as a way to carry the story’s scale.

“We are making the film in four parts, and it will have 10-12 top actors in pivotal roles spread across these instalments.”

  • Each of the four parts will have a different title.
  • The makers are planning 10-12 top actors across pivotal roles.
  • Shoots are planned in Mumbai, Rajasthan, other Indian locations, Dubai and more international cities.
  • The first instalment is targeting a March 2027 shoot wrap.

What fans should watch for

No release dates or final titles have been announced, so the first instalment’s identity is still an open question. For Bollywood fans, this is a reminder that the franchise model has arrived for historical dramas too, not just action spectacles. If the four-part structure works, Arjun Naga could turn a single film into a long-running event.
