Maatrubhumi Locks December 4 as Salman Khan Clears the Air
Salman Khan confirms Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace for December 4, explains VFX and Chitrangda Singh accident delays and Rs 11 senior tickets.

After months of shifting dates, Maatrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace has a firm spot on the calendar. At the film’s trailer launch, Salman Khan confirmed that the war drama will arrive in cinemas on December 4.
The repeated postponements had fed speculation about outside pressure. By addressing the delays directly, Salman shifts the conversation back to the film’s craft and its cast.
A release date that kept slipping
The team had earlier planned to arrive around January or June, then moved to August, and the date kept shifting after that. Salman said the final wait came down to visual effects work and an unforeseen setback on set.
- Earlier plans: around January or June, then August
- Confirmed date: December 4
- Delay reasons: VFX polish and Chitrangda Singh’s accident
- Senior citizen price: Rs 11
He explained that audiences now scrutinise VFX closely, and the makers did not want viewers zooming into a frame and picking apart a weak shot. “Hum kisi ko mauka nahi dena chah rahe hai,” he said — roughly, the team does not want to give anyone that opening.
The film was shot in Ladakh, where Salman said VFX use was expected to be limited. Even so, he added that when the film releases, it should be visually striking and beautiful to watch.
Chitrangda Singh’s accident added to the timeline
There was also a human reason for the delay. Salman said the film was initially expected to wrap in about 45-50 days. Then co-star Chitrangda Singh had an accident, and her physiotherapy took considerable time.
That unplanned recovery period pushed the schedule further, making the release calendar harder to predict.
‘Yeh sab bakwas hai’
On reports that the film was changed under government pressure, Salman was direct. “Yeh sab bakwas hai. Not true at all,” he said. He added that the film is neither against China nor a script rewritten under official direction.
He described the film as a human story about soldiers and their families. “They like each other, but when a situation comes, nation comes first,” he said.
Rs 11 tickets for senior citizens
Salman also announced a special gesture for older viewers: tickets for audiences above 75 will be priced at Rs 11.
The move gives families a low-cost reason to bring older members to the theatre, even as the film heads into a competitive opening.
A December 4 clash with Eetha
The confirmed date puts Maatrubhumi directly against Shraddha Kapoor’s Eetha. For fans, the wait is over; the next question is which film wins the opening day.
The other question is whether the VFX work and the emotional soldier-family story will connect once audiences finally see the finished film.
