Nayyi Navelli jumps 23.1% on Day 2, grosses Rs 10.13 cr

Yami Gautam's Nayyi Navelli grows 23.1% on Saturday with Rs 4 crore India net, pushing its two-day worldwide gross to Rs 10.13 crore.

Nayyi Navelli jumps 23.1% on Day 2, Rs 10.13 cr worldwide

Yami Gautam’s Nayyi Navelli (also spelt Nayi Naveli) managed a rare opening-weekend trick: its second-day numbers went up, not down. The Hindi comedy-horror drama collected Rs 4 crore net in India on Saturday, October 17, a 23.1% increase over its Rs 3.25 crore opening, according to Sacnilk.

Growth on a smaller footprint

That rise looks even stronger because the film actually lost shows between Friday and Saturday. It played 5,945 shows on day two, down from 6,281 on opening day, yet overall occupancy improved from 11% to 14%. When a film adds collections on fewer screens, it usually signals that the people who saw it are telling others to go.

The arithmetic so far:

  • Friday India net: Rs 3.25 crore
  • Saturday India net: Rs 4 crore
  • Two-day India net: Rs 7.25 crore
  • Domestic gross: Rs 8.63 crore
  • Worldwide gross: Rs 10.13 crore

Overseas markets contributed Rs 75 lakh on Saturday, taking the foreign gross to Rs 1.50 crore.

A time-of-day pattern

The Hindi 2D version recorded 21.99% overall occupancy on Saturday. The day built steadily: morning screenings were at 7.77%, afternoon at 24.08%, evening at 24.46%, and night shows ended strongest at 27.15%. In footfall terms, Saturday brought 179,695 tickets, lifting the two-day total to 334,706.

Why the Saturday uptick matters

For a mid-size Hindi release, the first Saturday is a quick litmus test. A drop is common after an opening day, while a rise suggests the film is finding its audience. Nayyi Navelli’s 23.1% gain, coming with lower show count, points to steady interest in the film’s mix of family comedy, horror, regional mythology and a Ram-Ravan dynamic.

Directed by Balaji Mohan, who makes his Bollywood debut here, the film is written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma. Set in Meerut, it follows Mohini, a new bride whose arrival reshapes a chaotic household, until her brother-in-law starts suspecting that something supernatural is at work. Addinath M. Kothare, Mita Vashisht, Sunita Rajwar, Sonal Jha and Sushmita Mukherjee round out the cast.

The early Noida glitch

There was one opening-day hiccup. A first-day, first-show screening in Noida was reportedly cancelled, and a 9 am show was moved to noon for undisclosed reasons, according to The Indian Express. It has not derailed the film’s Saturday climb, but it is the kind of local scheduling snag that can cause needless disappointment for fans.

What to watch next

The real test is Monday. A stronger Saturday does not guarantee a strong hold once the weekend crowd thins. If the film shows a small Monday fall and keeps occupying night shows, it could play as a word-of-mouth title. For now, the numbers are industry estimates and may change as official studio data is updated.
