Ramayana: Part 1 hits ₹141 crore by Saturday afternoon

Nitesh Tiwari's epic rode strong Saturday momentum after a Friday dip, reaching ₹141 crore net by afternoon with ₹150 crore weekend in reach.

Ramayana: Part 1 hits ₹141 crore by Saturday afternoon

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has turned the Diwali weekend into a box-office showcase. After two strong days, the epic was sitting at ₹141 crore net in India by Saturday afternoon, with the more lucrative evening and night shows still to be counted.

The film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Raavana, opened big on Thursday and has kept ticket windows busy through the long weekend. The latest figures suggest the Friday drop did not break the film’s rhythm.

The numbers so far

  • Day 1 (Thursday): ₹64.85 crore net
  • Day 2 (Friday): ₹48.05 crore net
  • Day 3 (Saturday, live till afternoon): ₹28.54 crore net
  • Total India net: ₹141 crore

Why Saturday matters

The Friday dip was roughly 25 per cent from opening day, after a huge pre-Diwali start. But Saturday’s early signs were stronger. Advance bookings crossed ₹40 crore gross in India, and the show count climbed back to 25,110, up from 24,550 on Friday. The Times of India notes that the screen presence is among the highest ever for a Bollywood release, which gives the film room to collect across the day.

The show-count swing tells the weekend story: the release opened with 26,615 shows on Thursday, eased on Friday, then widened again on Saturday as the Diwali holiday audience came out.

What this means for fans

The film is now within striking distance of the ₹150 crore net milestone. If Saturday night and Sunday hold, the weekend will give the franchise a strong launching pad for its second half.

The first instalment’s cast includes Ravie Dubey as Lakshman, while the audience has already had a glimpse of Sunny Deol as Hanuman in what will be the second part. Producer Namit Malhotra has confirmed that the second instalment has moved to 2028, so the theatrical response to Part 1 will shape the expectations for the follow-up.

For now, all eyes are on the Saturday final figure and whether the positive word of mouth translates into a blockbuster Sunday.
