Dhanush: God Is Behind Me, Fans Operate Me at OM Event
At the OM pre-release event, Dhanush called the film a multi-hero project, praised Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela, and urged fans to put family first.

At the pre-release event for OM in Tambaram, Dhanush turned the spotlight away from himself and toward the people around the film. He called the project a multi-hero story, listed his co-stars before himself, and closed with a fan-first message that was as much about real life as it was about cinema.
Five heroes, one film
The actor didn’t frame OM as a routine multi-starrer. Instead, he described it as a multi-hero film and named Mammootty, Sai Pallavi, Sreeleela, and music composer Sai Abhyankkar as the film’s other heroes, placing himself last. His line about the audience? “Everyone’s heart beats lubtup lubtup, but mine beats Fans Fans,” he said, as reported by News 18.
That may sound like stage charm, but the framing matters. In a market where a top star’s name often dominates the poster, Dhanush is positioning OM as a team effort ahead of its November 20 release.
Praise for Mammootty, Sai Pallavi and Sreeleela
Dhanush reserved special words for his co-stars.
- Mammootty: “Mammootty sir is Thug Life, and Thug Life means Mammootty sir,” Dhanush said, adding that he had loved the veteran’s film Azhagan and was happy to finally act alongside him.
- Sai Pallavi: He recalled working with her on Maari 2, saying she was innocent then but has now “become like Chandramukhi” and completely absorbed cinema.
- Sreeleela: He praised her dancing and hinted audiences would see a new side of her in OM.
He also congratulated Sai Abhyankkar on his young success.
The moment beyond the film
The actor then moved to a message that had nothing to do with box office. He asked fans to look after their homes first: “First, spend money on your family. After that, spend it on people.” He also pointed to the expected heavy rain in November and December and asked fans to help those in need.
When talk turned to who really runs his fan-club welfare work, Dhanush kept it simple: “Nobody is behind me. God is behind me, and my fans are operating me.”
For fans, the message is a reminder that a star’s support system is less about a coterie and more about the people who show up. For the film, it’s a warm pre-release note that keeps OM in conversation for both its cast and its heart.
