Prabhas’ Fauzi Eyes March 18, 2027; Spirit May Shift

Trade reports suggest Prabhas' Fauzi is targeting March 18, 2027, which could push Spirit from its March 5 date. Neither change is confirmed.

Fauzi eyes March 18, 2027; Spirit may shift

The release calendar for one of Indian cinema’s biggest stars is starting to look crowded. Trade chatter suggests Prabhas’ period actioner Fauzi, once expected in December 2026, is now being eyed for a March 18, 2027 theatrical debut. For fans, that is not just a date change; it is a potential domino for another Prabhas project.

A March date with a ripple effect

According to a report carried by Gulte, the Fauzi team is considering March 18, 2027, while filming continues. Production is reportedly on the interval block and is expected to wrap by mid-December 2026. A teaser is also being discussed for October 23, 2026, which falls on Prabhas’ 47th birthday, although no official announcement has been made.

The new date matters because Spirit, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed Prabhas film, is currently dated March 5, 2027. If Fauzi locks the reported date, two major Prabhas releases would land within 13 days of each other. That may be enough to push Spirit, a shift the makers have not confirmed.

Why the delay may be a good thing

Cast member Jitin Gulati had earlier told Hindustan Times that a delay was not a shock because the film was still shooting. He said the team would rather take extra time than release unfinished work. As he put it, “The idea is not to give a half-baked project. I mean, a film lives for a lifetime.”

That thinking is a familiar trade-off for big-budget Indian spectacles, where post-production, VFX and action blocks often reshape release dates. Audiences may grumble at a later date, but a rushed spectacle tends to face far harsher reactions once it is in theaters.

What we know about Fauzi

  • Prabhas plays an officer in a fictional period epic set against a historical backdrop.
  • Internet personality Imanvi makes her acting debut as the female lead.
  • The cast includes Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher and Jaya Prada.

Prabhas was last seen in The Raja Saab, which earned mixed reviews and social-media trolling for its VFX and story. The star’s pipeline also includes Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2, expected in December 2027 and currently filming.

What to do with this news

Until the producers confirm a date, treat this as a strong trade signal, not a locked plan. If you are planning a movie calendar, keep March 2027 flexible for Prabhas fans: both Spirit and Fauzi could move before final announcements drop. The earliest possible confirmation moment is likely around October 23, when a birthday teaser could clear the air or at least confirm the film’s look.
