Ranabaali: Rs 26.65 cr worldwide, Saturday dips 21.1%
Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's Ranabaali dipped 21.1% on Saturday but still crossed Rs 26.65 crore worldwide in two days.

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna’s Telugu period drama Ranabaali cooled slightly on its first Saturday, but a strong regional core and a healthy night-show turnout kept the bigger picture on course.
According to Sacnilk, the Rahul Sankrityan directorial earned Rs 7.30 crore net in India on Saturday, October 17, 2026. That is 21.1% below its opening-day India net of Rs 9.25 crore. After two days, India net stands at Rs 16.55 crore, while worldwide gross has reached Rs 26.65 crore.
Saturday by the numbers
- India net, day 2: Rs 7.30 crore, down 21.1%
- Two-day India net: Rs 16.55 crore
- Two-day worldwide gross: Rs 26.65 crore
- Domestic gross: Rs 19.25 crore
- Overseas gross: Rs 7.40 crore, with Rs 2 crore added on Saturday
- Day 2 footfalls: 551,946, taking the total to 1,263,625
The film played across 2,292 shows on Saturday, down from 2,515 on Friday. Overall occupancy softened from 57% to 53%. What did not soften much was the evening curve: night screenings recorded 65.77% occupancy, the strongest of the four slots, followed by afternoon shows at 59.15%. Morning screenings were the quietest at 27.15%.
The Telugu states are carrying the run
Saturday’s state-wise gross totalled Rs 8.50 crore, and Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone accounted for Rs 7 crore of it. Karnataka contributed Rs 1.08 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs 17 lakh, and the rest of India Rs 25 lakh.
That concentration is not a weakness yet. A period drama built around a regional resistance story often opens deep in its home territory before multiplying elsewhere. The challenge now is whether the Saturday dip stabilises on Sunday or continues into the working week.
A historical story drawing praise
Ranabaali is set during the Madras Famine of 1876–1878 in Rayalaseema and follows a horseman leading local resistance against British colonial rule. Rashmika Mandanna plays Jayamma, with music by Ajay-Atul.
Filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga has added to the buzz, publicly urging audiences to see the film. He praised Deverakonda’s “outstanding character portrayal”, said the pairing offers something beyond chemistry, and added that “some connections transcend the screen.” He also pointed to the film’s value as history, calling it a story of “serious academic interest” that textbooks rarely show.
What to watch next
The next meaningful test is Monday. A 21% second-day fall is common for a star-driven opening, but the difference between a front-loaded weekend and a genuine word-of-mouth run shows up in the weekday hold. If night shows remain full and the Telugu states continue to lead, Ranabaali can build a respectable lifetime number even after Saturday’s dip.
