Vijay and Rashmika’s Team Files Cybercrime Complaint Over Fake Posts

Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna's team has filed a cybercrime complaint in Hyderabad over fake, doctored and misleading social media posts.

Vijay and Rashmika's Team Files Cybercrime Complaint

The team of Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna has asked Hyderabad Cyber Crime police to investigate what it says is a wave of fake, doctored and misleading content about the couple. The complaint was submitted in person, shifting the response from ignoring online noise to formal legal action.

What the complaint flags

The team says the material goes beyond everyday trolling. It has pointed investigators to made-up claims, altered screenshots, impersonation and targeted harassment, and has handed over links and supporting material so each item can be examined properly.

  • Fabricated claims presented as facts
  • Doctored screenshots and manipulated clips
  • Impersonation and targeted harassment

In its statement, the team separated criticism from invention. It supports free speech and individual opinion, but not fake content dressed up as information.

“While we fully respect freedom of speech, individual opinions and the right to express criticism, there is a clear distinction between expressing an opinion and presenting fabricated, manipulated or materially misleading claims as facts.”

How the online storm began

The complaint follows the couple’s appearance on Koffee With Karan, where Vijay’s comment that Rashmika had to ask him 100 times to marry her became instant conversation. Old clips resurfaced, and the debate turned into speculation about who was more invested in the relationship. Rashmika responded with an eight-page note, writing that she is “OBSESSED with my man” and asking when that became a bad thing. Vijay later shared a video and photograph with her, making clear the backlash had not touched their happiness.

The line between opinion and fabrication

That distinction matters for fans and creators alike. A harsh review or a cheeky meme is not the same as a doctored screenshot that claims to be proof. The team has asked authorities to check whether some of the content could be part of a coordinated or paid campaign, if the evidence points that way. Every instance of allegedly unlawful content created, reposted or shared would be looked at separately, with legal action wherever needed.

What fans should do

The complaint is not an attempt to stop criticism of the actors. The concern is fabricated material passed off as genuine information. For anyone scrolling, the practical rule is uncomplicated: treat guesswork as guesswork, verify before sharing, and don’t amplify a screenshot you cannot confirm. Police will now review the submitted material before deciding the next steps.
