Ramayana tops ₹112.90 crore in two days; Friday drops 25%
Ramayana: Rise of a Legend hits ₹112.90 crore net in India in two days; Friday drops 25% to ₹48.05 crore. Weekend will decide its run.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has cleared the ₹100-crore mark in India within two days of release. The film added ₹48.05 crore net on Friday, taking its early domestic total to ₹112.90 crore net, according to Sacnilk figures cited by The Times of India.
The number is strong, but it also brings a reality check. Friday was down roughly 25% from the ₹64.85 crore net the film collected on its opening day, November 5. There is still time for the figure to change because the Friday number is live and subject to revision as late shows are reported.
The two-day picture in numbers
The early day-wise split looks like this:
- Day 1: ₹64.85 crore net
- Day 2 (live): ₹48.05 crore net
- India total: ₹112.90 crore net
For context, the opening day already put the film ahead of Ranbir Kapoor’s previous release Animal on Day 1. It did not, however, match the domestic opening record held by Dhurandhar 2, which began with ₹102 crore net. So the conversation is less about whether the film is big and more about whether it can hold.
Hindi leads, Kannada stays quiet
A closer look at the Day 2 split shows the Hindi version doing most of the heavy lifting. It contributed ₹30.39 crore of the ₹48.05 crore Friday number. That matters because the film was positioned as a pan-India event, and Yash’s presence as Ravana was expected to draw stronger Kannada audiences. So far, the Kannada version has not gained the traction many trade watchers expected.
The scale of the project is ambitious: Nitesh Tiwari, who made Dangal and Chhichhore, directs; Namit Malhotra produces. The cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman, with music by Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman.
The weekend is the real test
Crossing ₹100 crore in two days is a headline, but the film’s long-term fate will be decided over Saturday and Sunday. Friday evening and night shows could still lift the second-day number, and the holiday weekend should bring more family audiences. The next two days will show whether the Hindi belt continues to drive the film and whether other markets catch up.
For Hindi film fans, the takeaway is simple: this is a rare big-screen retelling of a beloved epic, and its first weekend will tell us if it becomes a word-of-mouth phenomenon or just a front-loaded opener.
