Sunny Deol: Ramayana Is Better Than Hollywood, Sequel in 2028

Sunny Deol's Hanuman cameo is the biggest talking point of Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, and he wants fans to see it in theatres.

Sunny Deol's Hanuman Tease Promises a Bigger 2028 Sequel

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend opened in theatres on 5 November, and the moment audiences are talking about arrives after the credits. Sunny Deol makes his first appearance as Lord Hanuman in the post-credit scene, giving fans a glimpse of his character and setting up his role in the second part.

Sunny Deol’s big-screen verdict

On Saturday, Deol shared his own review on Instagram and urged viewers to support the film. He said he truly enjoyed it and asked “each and every Hindustani” to watch it. He added, “This film is not less than any Hollywood film. But I would say it is better than them.” He believes the special effects “truly transport the viewer to that time.”

How the Hanuman reveal works

The sequence opens with a powerful musical backdrop as Hanuman enters. The camera keeps his face hidden, and a wider shot near the end shows him flying through the sky with his gada while chanting Jai Shri Ram. The Hanuman Chalisa, sung by Diljit Dosanjh, Sukhwinder Singh, Mohit Chauhan, Kailash Kher and Anirudh Ravichander, plays beneath the moment.

Before Hanuman appears, the film also offers a glimpse of Raghav Juyal as Meghnada, Ravana’s eldest son and the crown prince of Lanka. The makers have shown just enough to build curiosity about Sunny Deol’s look without giving it all away.

Why the cameo matters for the sequel

Hanuman’s arrival is the bridge to the next chapter, planned for 2028. After Ravana abducts Sita, Hanuman becomes a key figure in Rama’s journey: he finds Sita in Lanka and later helps Rama prepare for the war against Ravana. So the post-credit beat is not just fan service; it tells viewers that the next part will shift more attention to Hanuman.

The cast at a glance

  • Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita
  • Yash as Ravana, who also produces with Namit Malhotra
  • Ravi Dubey as Lakshmana and Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanaka
  • Arun Govil as Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi, Shobana as Kaikashi and Kajal Aggarwal as Mandodari

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, who co-wrote the screenplay with Shridhar Raghavan, the first part covers Ravana’s backstory and ends with his abduction of Sita after the fight with Jatayu, voiced by Anupam Kher.

What this says about Indian event cinema

Post-credit scenes have long been a Hollywood franchise habit. By using one to introduce Hanuman and Meghnada, Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is borrowing that playbook for an Indian epic and asking audiences to treat it as a long-term cinematic universe, not a one-film event.

If you are planning to watch, stay through the end credits. The reward is a short, music-driven tease that leaves Hanuman’s full reveal for 2028.
