Drishyam 3 crosses Rs 216.50 crore in 5 days, nears Drishyam 2
Drishyam 3 has earned Rs 216.50 crore net in five days and now trails Drishyam 2 by roughly Rs 30 crore, with Ajay Devgn scoring a career-best opening.

Five days, one franchise chase
Drishyam 3 is not just another hit. After its October 2 release, the Abhishek Pathak-directed thriller has crossed Rs 216.50 crore net in India in five days, according to trade data collated by Sacnilk and reported by The Times of India. The third film is now within striking distance of the highest total in the franchise’s history.
The numbers have followed the familiar big-film rhythm. Friday opened at Rs 62 crore, Sunday bounced to Rs 61 crore with 56% occupancy, and Monday’s slide to Rs 21 crore was around 65.6% below Sunday. Tuesday added Rs 19 crore with 23% occupancy, leaving the five-day total at Rs 216.50 crore.
Day-wise box office
- Friday: Rs 62 crore
- Saturday: Rs 53.50 crore
- Sunday: Rs 61 crore (56% occupancy)
- Monday: Rs 21 crore (about 65.6% below Sunday)
- Tuesday: Rs 19 crore (23% occupancy)
A record Ajay Devgn never had
For Devgn, the opening itself is a career marker. Drishyam 3’s day-one haul of Rs 62 crore comfortably outpaces Singham Again, which began at Rs 43.50 crore and finished its run at Rs 247.86 crore. In only five days, Drishyam 3 has also overtaken Raid 2’s lifetime total of Rs 173.44 crore.
The number that matters now
Drishyam 3 is roughly Rs 30 crore away from the franchise high-water mark. Drishyam 2 ended its run at Rs 239.67 crore net, and the third film has already more than doubled the original Drishyam’s lifetime of Rs 102.75 crore. The current question is not whether the film is a hit; it is whether it can hold enough through the weekdays and the second weekend to pass Drishyam 2.
Why the second weekend decides
A steep Monday fall is normal for a front-loaded franchise release, but the second-weekend hold will separate a record-breaker from a merely strong performer. If occupancy stabilises through this week, the film should edge past its predecessor. If the declines persist, the gap may close more slowly.
The creative force behind the film
Written and directed by Abhishek Pathak, Drishyam 3 continues the story from 2022’s Drishyam 2. The cast includes Ajay Devgn, Jaideep Ahlawat, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Prakash Raj, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. The Hindi version’s ending differs from the Malayalam original directed by Jeethu Joseph and starring Mohanlal, which gives Hindi audiences a distinct payoff.
